LALAL.AI Review 2026: AI Vocal Remover, Pricing & Limits

Quick Verdict
// Research-basedTeknexia AI Tool Evaluation Framework
This is a Research-based review. We did not use LALAL.AI ourselves. Every score below is judged on LALAL.AI's official pricing page, FAQ, refund policy, terms of service, media kit, and blog, and on aggregated Trustpilot reviews, not on hands-on use. Where a criterion such as ease of use would normally come from our own testing, it is assessed here from documentation, tutorials, and what user reports describe, and each description says what it rests on.
Overall: 7.4/ 10
LALAL.AI is a stem separation service from OmniSale GmbH, a Swiss company: you upload a song, podcast, or video, and its AI splits it into separate tracks. It is the seventh review in our AI Audio Tools category, after Suno, ElevenLabs, Murf AI, Udio, Async (formerly Podcastle), and Speechify. Unlike those tools, it does not generate new audio from scratch; it works on recordings you already have. This review is built from named sources only; we have not used LALAL.AI ourselves.
Separating is not licensing: splitting the vocals or instruments out of a song does not give you any rights to that song. LALAL.AI's terms say you are solely responsible for how you use and distribute the files you upload and the results. For music you did not create, check the rights before publishing anything. This is general information, not legal advice.
- According to the official pricing page, the free Starter plan includes 10 minutes and result previews, but downloads require a paid plan.
- Minutes are charged as file length times the number of stem types, per the pricing FAQ.
- Lite costs $9.99 a month or $7.50 billed annually; Pro costs $19.99 or $15, and adds a VST plugin and API access.
- Trustpilot shows 4.4/5 from more than 4,000 reviews, with LALAL.AI replying to 94% of negative ones.
What LALAL.AI Does, per Its Own Documentation
LALAL.AI launched in 2020 and, according to its media kit, has built six generations of separation models. The current default, Andromeda, is used in the Vocal Remover, Stem Splitter, Lead and Back Vocal Splitter, and Echo and Reverb Remover. A newer model, Lynx, introduced in 2026, handles voice isolation and noise removal in the Voice Cleaner. The upload widget accepts MP3, FLAC, MKV, MP4, and other formats, up to 20 files at a time, so you can drop in a video directly. The two images below are official screenshots from LALAL.AI's blog.

Which Tracks It Can Separate
The stem menu shown in LALAL.AI's August 2026 announcement lists vocal and instrumental, drums, bass, voice and noise, guitars (with separate electric and acoustic options), piano, synthesizer, strings, and wind. For creators, the voice and noise option matters most: it separates speech from background sound, such as music or room noise, in a recording. Separate tools remove echo and reverb, split lead from backing vocals, and change or clone voices.

Pricing, Minutes, and the Free Plan
We read LALAL.AI's pricing page in a browser on 12 October 2026, in both monthly and annual views.
| Plan | Monthly | Billed annually | Minutes and limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | Free | Free | 10 minutes · result previews only · 200MB per file · no card needed |
| Lite | $9.99 | $7.50/mo ($90/yr) | Unlimited Relaxed Queue · 90 Fast Queue min/mo · downloads · batch processing · 2GB per file |
| Pro | $19.99 | $15/mo ($180/yr) | Unlimited Relaxed Queue · 250 Fast Queue min/mo · VST plugin · local processing · API |
The minute formula is the detail to understand. Per the pricing FAQ, minutes used equal the file length multiplied by the number of stem types you select, so a 5-minute file split into 3 stem types uses 15 minutes. Fast and Relaxed queues give the same quality; Fast simply goes first, and paid plans switch to the Relaxed queue automatically once Fast minutes run out. Unused Fast minutes do not roll over.
On refunds, the FAQ says subscriptions are non-refundable, and the refund policy, updated 19 May 2026, adds that processing a file in full counts as accepting the quality shown in the preview. Uploading a file also waives the statutory right of withdrawal, per the same policy. Cancelling keeps your plan active until the end of the billing period.
Quality by Source Type
LALAL.AI's refund policy states that free and paid processing quality is identical, which is why it asks users to judge previews first. Its documentation recommends high-quality source files, and says separation works best when sounds overlap less in frequency. Two processing modes trade off against each other: one reduces bleed between stems but may lose detail, the other keeps more detail with a higher risk of bleed. For the Lynx voice model, LALAL.AI itself lists choral or group vocals and speech recorded far from the microphone as areas it is still improving. We have not measured separation quality, and no independent benchmark was available to us.
What Other Users Say
What Other Users Say
In a Research-based review, user reports are one of our main sources. According to user reports, the main strengths are precise separation between vocals and background music and an interface that non-technical users find easy. Recent negative reviews focus on the paywall: free users can preview a result but must subscribe to download it, and another objected to seeing a finished result before being asked to subscribe. Trustpilot notes that LALAL.AI invites its customers to review, which can raise the share of positive ratings.

LALAL.AI vs Descript vs Async
These tools overlap only partly. LALAL.AI separates existing audio into stems; Descript is an editor for audio and video built around a transcript; Async (formerly Podcastle) is an AI audio and video creation platform. Descript was tested hands-on for our earlier review; Async and LALAL.AI were assessed from research only.

FAQ
Can LALAL.AI remove background music from a YouTube video I filmed?
It is designed for that kind of job. LALAL.AI accepts video files such as MP4 and MKV, and its voice and noise option separates speech from background sound. You need a paid plan to download the result, and if the music belongs to someone else, removing it from your copy does not change who owns the original track.
Is LALAL.AI free?
Partly. The free Starter plan includes 10 minutes and lets you preview results, but downloading requires a paid plan, per the official pricing page.
How are LALAL.AI minutes counted?
Per the pricing FAQ, minutes used equal the file length multiplied by the number of stem types selected. A 5-minute file split into 3 stem types uses 15 minutes.
Can I get a refund from LALAL.AI?
Generally not. The pricing FAQ says subscriptions are non-refundable, and the refund policy treats a full processing run as accepting the preview quality. Exceptions are limited to cases such as unresolved technical errors or duplicate purchases.
Does separating vocals with LALAL.AI let me reuse a song legally?
No. Stem separation does not grant any rights to the original recording. LALAL.AI's terms make you solely responsible for how you use uploaded and resulting files. This is general information, not legal advice.
Is this review based on hands-on testing?
No. It is Research-based, built from LALAL.AI's official pricing page, FAQ, refund policy, terms, media kit, and blog, plus Trustpilot reviews. We have not used LALAL.AI ourselves.
Final Verdict
LALAL.AI does one job, separating an existing recording into tracks, and offers a wide menu of stems for it, from vocals and drums to guitars, strings, and a voice-versus-noise split for spoken audio. Its Trustpilot score is strong, with users praising accuracy and simplicity. The catch is how you pay: the free plan only lets you hear previews, minutes are charged per stem, and subscriptions are non-refundable, so preview carefully before a full run. It suits creators cleaning up their own recordings or musicians preparing stems; it does not give you any rights over a song you did not make.
